Merrily we knit along...

It's been fabulous, the IL's are here from Colorado and are entertaining dd #3 every waking moment. Guess what I'm doing!?

Yes, I'm really making progress now! I actually posted my progress picture on the 6 sox sight. OK I know that's where I'm supposed to insert a link thingy - where's the 14 yo dd when I need her?!

Here's a pic of me, in case you wondered what I look like.

Don't forget that 10 pound rule OK? And finally, a big "aawwwww...."

Don't let that angelic face fool you. Two days ago she pulled the end of my pet rat's tail off. Ouch!
Well, back to knitting now! Also I posted a couple of stupid questions on the 6 sox site...hopefully someone will take pity on me soon. I know I should be outside, it is incredibly lovely and mid 60's. I'll enjoy it through the window.

Staggering Along

OK, I'm back again, and I am happy to report that the hat is done. It took three attempts....the circular needles I was using were waaaay too big, hence the gargantuan proportions this thing was starting to take on. I quickly switched to DPN's only to cry with frustration while watching stitches falling off after every round. GGrrrrr...finally a whole afternoon of knitting was enough to complete the darn thing. And when I finally tried it on....it came down to my chin!
I. was. so. calm. I walked down to the washer...threw the switch to hot, poured in too much soap, tossed the thing in with a towel, slammed the lid and, presto!....
I really, really love it! It's still a tiny bit big, but SO warm and stylish. Then my DH came home. I had given up on the idea of giving this thing to him for Solstice, as had been the original plan. Then, he spied it...."That is SO cute!" he gushes. He tried it on and it was great. I made him promise he'd forget about it until December. (Shouldn't be a problem for him - LOL)

Here's the six sock knit along project for October. I'm off and running! These are supposed to be for the MIL. We'll see...I am paranoid about the following: a) Do I have enough yarn? b) Is there enough color contrast for this project? c) Will I finish!? Sheesh I must be the world's slowest knitter.

And last but not least, here's the sweater I made last year. I am happy to report it fits me...this year! I lost about 40 pounds in the last nine months (TY Goddess!) I know, it needs a good blocking...it's really hairy cheap yarn, but sooo festive! I think I'll wear it to Spiral Dance this year.
Well, that's it for now. Whew! I am off to sign on my blog to some more knitting groups. Hope somebody reads me soon! It's lonesome here!!

Retro Patterns

I just love this picture. It is only one of many GROOVY patterns in this vintage catalog I scored for 30 cents...I know there must be collectors of these things out there! Maybe I should become one because I can't resist buying these even though I don't knit anything out of them. Check out that hairdo!! The brown dress is actually not a bad look...the green cables are less than flattering however!!!

Here's our little puppy. We call her Lucy and she is a dear! But the puddles are epic!!!

Monday, October 3, 2005

Hello all! I've started a hat for dh (a Solstice gift) It is gorgeous brown Peace Fleece with a little intarsia band above the rolled brim. I am attempting circular needles for the first time and I'm finding them...tubular! But seriously, it's more challenging than I thought. Like most round projects, the trickiest part is just getting the damn thing started without twisting, jerking or wretching into an irretrievable mess *sigh*...the good part is I knitted almost the entire weekend due to the 14's two day soccer tournament! There are some good things about those games...because if I was home of course I would have to be cleaning something.

However after frogging the first attempt because it looked too huge, I've only got about four inches done. And the second time around looks pretty large too, even 15 stitches less...

....good thing he's got a Big Head.
